An exclusive art workshop jointly brought to you by Singapore Arts Museum and my art space. A group of 15
participants had participated in this creative workshop.
A face to face appreciation of SAM’s Southeast Asian Focus’s permanent collection in the Museum
galleries was organised. “Nanyang” style pioneer artists like Liu Kang, Georgette Chen, Chen Wen Hsi,
Cheong Soo Pieng, and other artists were presented to all participants . We discussed about their
backgrounds and how they had creatively combine their chinese heritage with western art influences like
cubism, post impressionism and represented through a chosen local or southeast asia theme. On spot
drawing exercise was arranged in the ambient galleries for better understand of their subject matters.
Participants were encouraged to explore many possibility in creating their own unique artworks through all
the inspirations gathered from such exclusive art selections combined with such stimulating environment.
