This has never sky after a late captured my unreserved attention. The passing of time as This has never awakening visual symphony. sky after a late afternoon shower. The vivid sky blue and This was the repercussion from the recent painting trip to Australia. I was surprise that the effects I experienced from the trip still silently present within me. It was there that I first saw what inspired the impressionists – colour-filled shadows. Shadows of the gracefully formed sand waves in brilliant purplish-blue complemented perfectly with bright peach yellow in the light. The trip was a challenging one. Equipped with the arsenal of space, form and colour, we were there to conquer the magnificent Cape Schanck, to capture the rhythmic formation of the rock platform while braving the strong wind, and to be immersed in the romantic atmosphere at the boat-filled piers at the Rocks and Portsea. These are just a few of the many charms that have seduced artists to Mornington Peninsula since the last century. It continues to be the source of inspiration for many artists. It is not a surprise that the Peninsula has since evolved into a vibrant art scene. Artistic pursuit in the area is supported by The Peninsula Art Society. The society serves to promote artistic expression and make art more accessible to the local community. Numerous ongoing activities are organized for its 500 plus members from all walks of life. We managed to meet some of the members at the society’s studio. Rapport was formed, ideas were shared. We were deeply inspired by their enthusiasm and passion for art. It is truly a rewarding art-experience in Mornington Peninsula! -Vincent Chow, participant of our Australia Painting Workshop Touri in March 2008 |
