A real work of art is infectious.
It unites the viewers with the artists. When a viewer is
infected by a piece of art, he or she “feels as if the
work were his own and not someone else's - as if
what it expresses were just what he had long been
wishing to express.” And the stronger the infection, the
better is the art.

The 3 conditions that determine the degree of
infectiousness of art:
individuality of the  feeling
transmitted,
clearness with which the feeling is
transmitted; and lastly and most importantly the
sincerity of the artist.

When an artist is impelled by an inner need to express
his feeling, the expression of feeling will be individual
for everyone else as each man is different.  "The more
the artist draws his feeling from the depths of his
nature - the more sympathetic and sincere will it be.
And this same sincerity will impel the artist to find a
clear expression of the feeling which he wishes to
transmit."

"If all these conditions are present, even in the
smallest degree, then the work, even if a weak one, is
yet a work of art."

3 conditions of good art
Here’s an update from fill your walls and
artists so far.

In December 08 we got off to a fine start
with our Launch Party with My Art Space.
About 100 guests turned up and showed
support for what we represent.  Also to be
celebrated on that day, we were featured in
the Business Times and we sold a
painting by Jixuan to a collector who was
reading the feature.

One of the areas we focus our efforts in
promoting emerging artists is to create
many platforms for artists to showcase
their art.  We have had initial discussions
with hospitals and parks to secure suitable
space for exhibition as well as walls to
display art.  Watch this space.

We have also taken out advertisements in
The Finder magazine, The Finder Directory,
Singapore Art Gallery Guide, Timeout
magazine, ZoCard and The American
Newspaper.  These advertisements help
feature artist work as well as communicate
to collectors and art enthusiasts where they
can find art from emerging artists in
Singapore.

The “Apple on Canvas” exhibition was
listed in numerous publications, to list a
few 8 days, Youth.sg, Business Times, and
more.  Home Concept has also featured
our gallery and the art.

We are actively promoting emerging artists
in any way we can.  Any feedback or idea
can be sent to angie@fill-your-walls.com.
