Unlike what most friends thought, Jixuan liked creating and drawing, but she had
overlooked this passion until she came across a misplaced book in the library filled
with drawings of the masters a couple of years ago. She was deeply fascinated, and
her impulsive spirit propelled her to obtain lots of art supplies immediately to explore
the possibilities of art.

For now Jixuan works with oil primarily, at the same time enjoy working from scrap
materials while being open to the potential of various mediums.. Egon Schiele, Edvard
Munch, Matisse, Louise Bourgeois had all inspired her in their approach to art.

She explained that this world being an integral whole cradled with all its uncertainties,
along with its colossal scale of emotions, is an unspoken form of inspiration. As for her
creative process, she would gather resources and make studies of them. Sometimes
she doodles mindlessly, with the believe that unexpected things pop out magically from
the sub-conscious. When deciding on a new creation, Jixuan avoids being too
deliberate conceptually. She tries to minimize thinking and leave much to the intuition.
She attempts (regardless how futile) to strip herself from external influences if possible.

To search for what she doesn't know now is what aspire her to move forward in her art
journey. Jixuan is now spending her effort to understand the nature of abstract and at
the same time working on a series of paintings exploiting innocence using dolls as
models..

In the near future, she wants to gain better mastery over various mediums so as to
expand possibilities and further develop a style, hopefully to devote her time to art
exclusively in the long run.
