Warren Benedict Khong

Born and currently based in Singapore, Warren Khong graduated with a BA (Hons) in Fine Art: Painting and Drawing from the University of
Huddersfield, UK and the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts, Singapore in 2009.

Khong is fascinated with the eternal idea of Beauty; specifically, the ideal of Beauty that is attributed to the feminine face. Influences
reminiscent of manga, anime and the ‘Superflat’ in Japanese culture inform his aesthetics, and Khong’s practice engages with the
manifold manifestations of this ideal through the use of text and the highly plastic mangasque imagery. However, desiring to move away
from the pictorial fetish, he has recently been experimenting with the use of minimalistic text-as-image and enjoys the strange dichotomy
of his current practice.

Khong has exhibited in several group shows, including A New Level of Creativity at Ngee Ann City in 2005, and continues his pursuit of
Beauty. He is has also worked on a couple Sol LeWitt wall drawings as a Sol LeWitt Foundation draughtsman.

During interludes, Khong enjoys writing in his mind while taking long walks through the park.
