Art Watching @ Istana Park
En plein air is a French
expression which means "in the
open air", and is particularly
used to describe the act of
painting outdoors.

Appreciate the beauty of Istana
Park and "paint on the ground"
as Claude Monet, Camille
Renoir once did!
Plein Air Painting Workshop

walks of life, showcasing their love and
appreciation for all things green and

Olga Bliznetsova
Olga Bliznetsova, Russian, has been living and
painting in Singapore for the last 7 years. Her
recent series of paintings reflect her love for tropical
nature and features some of Singapore's landmark
landscapes. Olga will share her story of how she
became an artist, what challenges she faces, and
what keeps her going on her chosen path.

"I've been fascinated by lush tropical greenery and
trees since I first came to Singapore. My admiration
of nature has now found its reflection in the series
of paintings featuring marvellous rain trees with
ferns and other amazing plants that I've come
across in Singapore's parks. I was greatly inspired
while exploring the wonders of tropical nature - its
beauty and bright colours."

It wasn’t an easy decision to make, considering the awesomeness of all the
and blood was… you get the idea.

After much intense deliberation, a decision was finally made.

The My Art Space team would like to congratulate the two winners of our Juror’s

In the journey of Life, when it seems impossible to get through the dark,
remember that this too shall pass and there will be light.

“Dabbling in drawing and painting provides Vincent with a creative outlet. When
away from the easel and not indulging in his other leisurely pursuits, Vincent is a
corporate lawyer in private practice.”
Juror’s Choice (Best Technique):
The Journey
by Vincent Lim
Glamazons is inspired by the dreamlike world of high fashion - where women
make-up and hairstyles. Worshipping the Gods of Style, they hold on to their
outstanding than other women.

“Elsa Lim has loved to paint and draw since she was a child, but instead of
pursuing art, she spent many years working in marketing and public relations.
After a mid-life crisis, she became a financial adviser and decided to re-connect
with her childhood passion in her spare time, starting with oil painting lessons at
My Art Space in 2009.  She is now an active weekend artist.”

William does not deliberate a style in his art. His work is instead guided by the
sense of happiness in his life, which is translated into the creative work that he
inception of his Visual Arts studio in 1997, and believes there are no boundaries
in both. His work is a deliberate attempt to further blur the lines between design
and art with its often whimsical and unconventional visual approach.

During the talk, William will share with us his art making process as well as the
role of art in his life. He will also touch on nature, cats and the thematic study of
happiness that is present in all his work.
Embryo is symbolic visualisation of a process of discovery. Like a Pandora’s Box
kind of fable, she discovers, she touches, she gets her hands wet, she
experiments… and soon finds herself in more surprises than she can handle.

Counterpoint
by Joy Abigail Ho
The video explores the relationship between audio and visual in Steve Reich’s
Vermont Counterpoint. A medley of animated visual motifs chronologically
translates the minimalist music into a state of visual harmony within the
characteristics of the counterpoint.

The piece was a collaboration effort with Spanish Flutist Roberto Alvarez,
culminating in a live performance at the Esplanade in 2011.
