Day 1 Singapore – Delhi – Srinagar
Early morning departure on SQ406 at 0200, arriving Delhi 0525.
Assistance on arrival to transfer to domestic terminal.
Connecting flight to Srinagar ,
On arrival, meet your guide and transfer to your deluxe houseboat on Dal Lake .
Afternoon free; take a ride in a local sikara boat on the lake for a leisurely view of the
spectacular mountain scenery.
Day 2 Srinagar
Visit some of the famous Mughal Gardens – planted when the Mughal emperors used
Srinagar as a retreat from the summer heat of Delhi .
Set up at your houseboat to paint/sketch, or take a walk through the old town of
Srinagar .
Meals and overnight on the houseboat.
Day 3 Srinagar – Gulmarg excursion
Day excursion to Gulmarg, a vast mountain meadow which is India ’s primary ski resort
in the winter.
Spend the day sketching/painting the spectacular scenery.
Return to your houseboat for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 4 Srinagar – Kargil
Check-out and start the drive across the mountains. Enroute to Kargil, visit Sonamarg,
with its view of glaciers and snow-capped peaks.
Arrive at Kargil for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 5 Kargil – Alchi
Morning depart Kargil. The scenery is noticeably different – from the lush green forest
and lakes of Srinagar , you are now entering the high-altitude desert of the Tibetan
Plateau. Here the scenery is starker, the land dry and the mountains appearing to be
more menacing.
Stop at Lamayuru, one of the oldest and largest of the Tibetan Buddhist Monasteries,
which have replaced the mosques of Kashmir .
Then continue to Alchi, and check-in to Alchi Resort for dinner and overnight.
Day 6 Alchi – Leh
Visit Alchi Monastery, a repository of ancient Buddhist art unique to this region. No
longer an active monastery, it is maintained by the monks from Likir Monastery, 10 km
away.
Drive to Leh. Enroute pass the spectacular view of the confluence of the Zanskar and
Indus Rivers .
Arrive in Leh and check-in to your hotel for dinner and overnight.
Day 7 Leh
Early morning visit Thikse Monastery, to see the prayer call; you can sit in the prayer
hall to experience the monks’ morning chanting and breakfast of yak-butter tea and
tsampa – barley flour.
Later visit Hemis, one of the richest monasteries with a priceless collection of
Buddhist thangka and other artefacts. You can spend the afternoon at the bazaar, or
set-up for painting/sketching at one of the many viewpoints in and around the town.
Day 8 Leh
Day of painting/sketching at the viewpoints around Leh
Day 9 Leh – Delhi – Departure
Morning transfer to the airport for flight to Delhi .
On arrival, proceed for a tour of Old Delhi or visit some of its shops and galleries.
Evening transfer to the airport for departure on flight SQ408 at 2330
Arrive Singapore at 0655.
